Our Retreats

Set amidst the beautiful parkland of the Woodhill estate, this idyllic retreat offers a range of spaces providing a moment to pause, to breathe, to feel held.

Jasmine Courtyard

The south-facing Jasmine Courtyard, with its mature pale pink cherry trees, white Camellias, lavender and fragrant white lilies, provides a unique landscaped venue. Heritage varieties of espaliered fruit, sweet-smelling Jasmine and white Madame Alfred Carriere roses adorn the walls, while Lady’s Mantle spills out from the borders. A fire pit offers a space to gather around the flames.

Jasmine Studio

with its rustic beams and glittering chandeliers, affords an atmospheric space to host:
  • Cocktail parties for up to 135 guests
  • Banqueting receptions for up to 70 guests
  • Afternoon tea for up to 50 guests

With further seating outside.

A large marquee can be accommodated in the wildflower meadows.  Alternatively, the studio is perfectly suited for workshops and retreats of 15, with lunch tables set up ready for refreshments. There is a separate kitchen with equipment for caterers, crockery, cutlery and stemware.

We also have an in-house chef on hand who can supply sample menus on request, or bespoke suggestions for private dining, inside or in the gardens.

Walled Garden and Glasshouse

Our restored glasshouse is a beautiful intimate space for ten people to come together for a workshop or celebration, surrounded by the beauty of seasonal flowers in our grass parterre.

Espaliered apples, pears, damsons, plums, and figs adorn the walls of Walled Garden. The orchard features different varieties of pears and apples and eight cherry trees make an Allee of blossom in springtime. The borders are a tapestry of colour in spring, summer and autumn with tulips, roses, salvia and dahlias.

Amphitheatre

The Amphitheatre, with its sweeping views over the historic parkland, provides a stunning backdrop for a gathering, reading or ceremony.

Guests can experience forest bathing, embracing the tranquillity and beauty of Woodhill Park's ancient woodlands. Soil to soul, rooted in peace.

Introducing Sound Healing

Sound has been used for healing in various cultures for thousands of years. The sound of the harp, ancient gongs and the purity of crystal bowls provide waves of peace and relaxation of mind, body and spirit, moving us to a place of coherence and balance.

How Does It Work?

Sound helps to facilitate shifts in our brainwave state by using entrainment. Entrainment synchronises our fluctuating brainwaves by providing a stable frequency which the brainwave can attune to. By using rhythm and frequency, we can entrain our brainwaves and it then becomes possible to down-shift our normal beta state (normal waking consciousness) to alpha (relaxed consciousness), and even reach theta (meditative state) and delta (sleep; where internal healing can occur). This same concept is utilised in meditation to regulate breath, but with sound it is the frequency that creates the shift.
“If we accept that sound is vibration and we know that vibration touches every part of our physical being, then we understand that sound is heard not only through our ears but through every cell in our bodies. One reason sound heals on a physical level is because it so deeply touches and transforms us on the emotional and spiritual planes. Sound can redress imbalances on every level of physiologic functioning and can play a positive role in the treatment of any medical disorder.”

Harp

The resonance of the harp has unique healing properties. The richness and tonal colour of the frequency have a soothing and relaxing effect. The subtle use of sound cultivates inner quietness, balance and beauty. The benefits of sound healing have long been observed in a range of settings including children’s hospitals, hospices, in business and in performance enhancement.

Crystal & Tibetan Bowls

The sounds and vibrations of singing bowls promote relaxation and restoration with subtle and sometimes profound healing effects. They can be used to take the recipient into a deep meditative state, which can then lead the body into a place of homeostasis, helping it to self-regulate and heal.

Our bodies are made up of 65-75% water, which is an excellent conductive medium for sound and vibration. The pure tones and vibrations from the Tibetan and crystal bowls are transmitted to our cells which release toxins.

The body is also made up of many crystalline structures. When the crystal bowls are played, there may be profound effects on the tissues, cells and organs in the body, as well as rebalancing the circulatory, endocrine and metabolic systems.
